Where do you start with this? Afro Prog? I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Moog on an afro record before…

Guelawar – also seen as Orchestre Guelawar de Banjul or Guelawar Band de Banjul – were from Banjul, Gambia. Bai Janha aka “Sweet Fingers” was the composer, arranger, and guitar player of Guelewar and Ifang Bondi. He apparently had some connection to Super Eagles Band – which I have not been able to confirm. Laaye N’Gom was the singer. His brother Moussa was also in the band before moving on to Super Diamono de Dakar.

They released four albums between 1979 and 1982. Bai Janha reformed the group and released an album in 2011 on Teranga Beat. There as also a compilation that was released by Kindred Spirits the following year.

No catalog number listed. Released by Trouba Auto Cassettes of Dakar, Senegal in 1981.
